Come and enjoy good company, food, music and dance the night away, all while supporting a really great cause. The evening will include a welcome reception, catered dinner, DJ and dancing. In addition, we will be holding a silent auction with some incredible items donated by individuals and organizations across Utah and throughout the country.

If you are unable to make it to dinner but would like to come and celebrate with us, have a drink, a piece of cake, socialize, dance and support a good cause, you are welcome to join us at the After Party.

Homeless Youth Resource Center

Proceeds from this event are going to support the Homeless Youth Resource Center here in Salt Lake. The Resource Center is the primary facility in the entire state that serves homeless youth and they work hard to provide assistance and outreach to these kids through a number of programs. Some surprising numbers:

  • They serve around 60-65 youth a day at the center, providing a safe haven, hot meals, laundry and shower facilities, psychological support, education and job assistance, and basic survival necessities such as warm clothes, toiletries and sleeping bags.
  • In the past year they have served over 1,200 youths.
  • It is estimated that there are 500-900 homeless kids living on the streets of Salt Lake County alone at any given time. These kids ran away from abusive homes, left or were kicked out for being LGBTQ, left or were kicked out because the family couldn’t afford to take care of them, etc…
  • In the past 5 years they have seen a 160% rise in the number of youth they service.
  • A large percentage of the youth they support are kids who left home or were thrown out for coming out as LGBTQ.

The center provides homeless kids with a safe haven, hot meal, laundry and shower facilities, basic necessities such as toiletries, warm clothes and sleeping bags, counseling, and information and references for housing, education and jobs.

The Resource Center is entirely non-profit, relying on community support to keep their doors open and provide what they can to the kids and Atheists of Utah has been a proud supporter of their efforts for a number of years. Additional information about this organization can be found on their website at http://www.voaut.org/Services/Homeless-Outreach–Housing-Programs/Homeless-Youth-Resource-Center.

Last years silent auction was quite spectacular with donated items from local artists and merchants and autographed books from noted national authors. We hope this year will be equally diverse and interesting. If you have a product or service you would like to donate for the auction, your gift would be greatly appreciated. Click Here for additional information about donating to the auction.

We are seeking a few friendly and energetic volunteers to assist us on the night of the event. If you would like to support this objective by volunteering, please contact Grant Larimer for additional information.
